Content theories

 Content theories form one group of theories relating to motivation.

Content theories ask the question - what are the things that motivate people? They are also referred to as need theories and assume that human beings have certain needs or desired outcomes that can be satisfied through work.

Content theories assume that everyone responds to motivating factors in the same way and there is one best way to motivate everyone.
