Businesses can be organised into many different forms in order to achieve their overall aims and goals. Common forms include:

  • sole traders: an individual carrying on business with a view to making profits
  • partnerships: a relationship that exists between persons carrying on a business in common with a view to making profits, and
  • companies: a corporation that has been set up as a separate legal entity to the owners carried out with a view to making profits. There are strict rules and procedures that govern the formation of a company.
